Canyoning Bacu sa Figu

Bacu sa Figu is located in Talana, Ogliastra — and it is widely considered one of the wildest canyons in all of Sardinia.

The streambed cuts through a dense landscape of holm oaks, strawberry trees, and fragrant junipers, plunging into a steep, almost inaccessible gorge. Widely spaced rope descents and powerful water flow — especially between winter and spring — make every metre of this route genuinely gripping.

The full route demands real commitment and solid fitness. That’s why 25miglia also offers a light version, covering either the first or second section of the canyon — fully accessible to all levels and ages.

Bacu sa Figu isn’t just one of Sardinia’s most beautiful canyons — it’s also one of its most historically significant. This was one of the first technically challenging routes to be rigged on the island, making it a landmark in Sardinian canyoning history.

And there’s more: three separate day-trip itineraries start from the same meeting point, which means Bacu sa Figu can easily become the base for a multi-day immersion in wild Ogliastra nature. Few places in Sardinia offer this kind of depth — both literally and figuratively.

You’ll start by looking down — watching the rushing water carve its way through granite cliffs far below. And right then, you’ll know: this is the real thing.

Full route: medium-high technical difficulty, high physical demand. Prior canyoning experience is required — this is not a route for first-timers.

Light version: medium technical difficulty, medium physical effort. Open to all participants aged 12 and up, including beginners with at least one previous canyon descent.
